Submitting a Photo:

You do not have to be a Professional Photographer to submit photos. Although Professional Photographers are welcome to submit photos too. Anyone can take the simple photos needed. These are some examples of images that can and cannot be used for various reasons.

Taking a Profile Picture:

To begin
all you need is a plain white wall (even a door or an unwrinkled white sheet), a camera (point & shoot cameras are just fine), and cute children.

-Set your child about 1 foot away from a wall turned sideways, so you are looking at their profile.

-Turn your flash off! A flash will create a double silhouette image which cannot be used. Instead turn on your light and open the curtains to your windows.

-Have kids look straight ahead. Avoid having them look up high or down low. I've found that placing a sticker or something in front of them -giving them a specific item to stare at really helps, especially with younger kids.

-Snap a couple images of them. You may want to try having them smile for one, and be serious for another. Choose your favorite.

-Make sure that your photo is taken closer up, the child's head should mostly fill the frame, but it needs to include their entire head. No cropping any part off.

Then follow the basic instructions for Placing your Order and Submitting your Photo!

That's it!

Notice these examples below of usable photos. Notice that while the YES photos are not beautifully taken, they will work just fine to create your Portraits. Just avoid the NO's.

Please turn off flashes!
It will cause a double silhouette, which makes it more difficult to get a nice precise edge.

By turning off the flash and using room/window light there is a much better image here. You will notice there is still a faint double silhouette, but it is ok.

Blurry pictures are not ok.

Babies can be very tricky as they do not hold still. There heads are heavy to hold up and still so they may need someone to help hold their head a bit.
Yes!

Have someone help steady a baby or young child. They move and jerk and wobbled a lot, so some blur is ok, but you need to try to get it the sharpest that you can. Be ready as a photographer to snap quickly.

Another tip for babies, is to have Mom stand playing peek a boo or something similar to catch baby's attention.

Avoid having kids suck on fingers, hold face/hair or slouch down.

Don't crop in too tight cropping off parts of heads!

Capture their attention to the side. Encourage them to sit up straight and keep hand down away from head.
